1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to establish requirements for student use of the Baker College print system.
2.0 Definitions
Printing Credit - The monetary value assigned to a student’s printing account each semester. Printing credit is provided by the College at the start of each term and is used to pay for printing, copying, and scanning services.
Duplex Printing - A printing option that allows documents to be printed on both sides of a sheet of paper. Each side of the paper is counted as one printed page.
Miscellaneous Fees eMarket - The Baker College online payment system where students may purchase additional printing credit once the initial semester credit has been exhausted.
Non-Transferable/Non-Refundable - A condition that prevents printing credit from being transferred to another individual or refunded as cash.
3.0 Scope
This policy applies to all enrolled Baker College students, including those attending in person or online.
4.0 Policy Statement
Students are provided with access to the Baker College print system for printing, copying, and scanning. Each semester, every student receives a standard printing credit funded by the College. Printing credits are non-transferable, non-refundable, and do not carry forward between semesters.
Printing activity is subject to the Acceptable Use Policy for Baker College Information Technology Resources.
5.0 Procedures
Printing Credits
- At the beginning of each semester, a $50 credit is applied to each student’s printing account.
- Printing in black and white reduces the balance at the standard rate of $0.10 per page (equivalent to 500 single-sided black and white pages).
- Color printing reduces the balance at a higher rate, as published in the printing system.
- Duplex (two-sided) printing is counted as two printed pages.
Purchasing Additional Credits
- Students who exhaust their semester printing credit may purchase additional credit.
- To purchase additional credit, students must log in to the Baker College Miscellaneous Fees eMarket.
- Select the “Copy/Print Fee” option and complete the payment process.
- Purchased credit is applied directly to the student’s printing account.
- Purchased credit is non-refundable and non-transferable.
6.0 Responsibilities
Students
- Monitor their printing credit balance throughout the semester.
- Manage their printing activity to remain within the credit provided.
- Purchase additional credit through the Baker College Miscellaneous Fees eMarket if the semester balance is exhausted.
- Comply with the Acceptable Use Policy for Baker College Information Technology Resources when using the printing system.
