Summary

Learn more about how you can request a change to your federal student loan after it has been accepted.

Body

Need to double-check your loan amounts or make a quick update? It’s easier than you think! Here is how to view and manage your Federal Student Loans.

Step 1: Review Your Current Loans

Head over to your Student Financial Aid Portal. There, you can see a full history of the loans you’ve already accepted or declined. It’s always a good idea to peek at these numbers before making any changes.

Step 2: Requesting a Change

If you realize you need more or less than what you originally planned, you can submit a Loan Change Request.

What Happens Next?

Once you submit the Loan Change, the Financial Aid Office will review the request. Here is what to expect:

  • Keep an eye on your inbox: We’ll send you an email notification as soon as we’ve reviewed your request.

  • If approved: You may be asked to log back into your financial aid portal to officially accept the new loan amounts.

  • If we can’t process it: Don’t worry we'll send you a note explaining why and let you know what other options you might have.

Returning Extra Funds

If you ended up with more loan money than you actually need and want to send it back to the lender, we have a specific process for that. Check out our Loan Return Request article for more information.
