Students are able to create their own personalized academic plan to help keep them on track to graduation. The default plan that is set up is what the College has suggested you take and in what order but we know not all students will fit into this perfect plan of being a full-time new student! To create your academic plan, follow the directions below.
Start by navigating to my.baker.edu and login using your Baker College credentials.
Click on the student tab at the top of the screen.
Click on Academic Services on the left hand side of the screen. Then click on My Academic Information in the 1st column under Course Information.
Under the Advising section, click on View my academic plan
The academic plan that will appear for you is the default plan the College has set up for your program for the year that you start or re-enrolled. This is typically set up as a full-time plan but this personalized plan allows the student to move classes around as they wish to take them in case you don't want to take the amount of credits set up on the default plan.
To move a requirement from one semester to the next, all you have to do is click on "move requirement" next to the class.
This box will appear after you click on move requirement. Here you are able to select the semester you would like to move the requirement to.
If you try to move a class into a semester that you already have the max of 18 credits in, the system will not allow you to move it.
If you have any unassigned courses, these will appear at the top of your academic plan. This typically happens when the default plan has the course in a semester that has already passed. You can just click next to the course where the check mark is grayed out, and then assign it to the appropriate semester using the red assign box.
Once you have made all of the changes to your plan that you would like, you will need to request approval from your advisor. Click the options button at the top of the page, then on the drop down, click manage my approval requests.
On this page you will need to click on the ones that say "request approval". Once you do this, it will appear as "request sent." In this example the first one shows the request has been sent and then second one shows you will need to click request approval. Your advisor will be notified of your request to make changes and will then deny or approve them.
Notes regarding academic plans:
*The plan will not tell you if you move a course in front of another one that you have not met the prerequisite for.
**The plan will not tell you if the course is offered in that particular semester.
***Once you make changes to your plan, you will need to request approval for the changes and your academic advisor will review all of this for you.
****You can register from your Academic Plan. Please see article on Registering from your Academic Plan.
