Baker College Student Refunds

Student Refund Options

All student refunds are processed through Illumia (formerly known as Transact Payments).

Refunds can be sent in one of two ways:
  • Direct Deposit (ACH)
  • Paper Check
Direct Deposit (Recommended)
To receive your refund faster, you can sign up for direct deposit through the Student Billing Portal.

  • You can enroll at any time.
  • If you previously received paper checks, you can still switch to direct deposit whenever you want.
  • Direct deposit refunds usually arrive in your bank account within 2–3 business days.
Review the knowledge base article, Enrolling in Direct Deposit Refunds on the Student Billing Portal for a detailed guide on the enrollment process.

Paper Check

If you do not enroll in direct deposit, your refund will automatically be sent as a paper check in the mail.

  • No action is needed if you prefer paper checks.
  • If you are currently enrolled in direct deposit and want to switch back to paper checks, you can cancel direct deposit at any time.
  • Paper checks typically take 7–10 business days to arrive by mail.
If you choose to receive your refunds through paper check please ensure you have your most current address on record with Baker College. You can update your address on the Student Personal Information Page on MyBaker.

For further details on excess financial aid refunds and disbursement dates review the Financial Aid Disbursements & Refunds knowledge base article.

BankMobile Vibe Account Holders

Baker College no longer processes student refunds through BM Technologies, Inc. (BankMobile Disbursements). However, if you are a BankMobile checking account holder, you may continue to utilize that account now and into the future.

If you would like your refunds deposited into your BankMobile Vibe checking account, you can enter that account information when enrolling in direct deposit through Illumia.
