1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to outline the eligibility criteria, selection process, roles and responsibilities, terms and renewals, and expectations for individuals interested in becoming a member of the Baker College Alumni Ambassador and Advisory Committee (AAAC). Alumni Ambassador and Advisory Committee members play a vital role in fostering a strong alumni network, supporting alumni and current students, and promoting the values and mission of Baker College.
2.0 Definitions
Alumni Ambassador and Advisory Committee Member - A member of the Baker College Alumni Community (BCAC), who volunteers to actively promote and support the BCAC through outreach efforts, planning and participating in engagement activities and events, and providing advice on activities related to alumni engagement.
Baker College Alumni Community (BCAC) - a network group of Baker College alumni.
3.0 Scope
This policy applies to all Baker College alumni who are interested in serving as Alumni Ambassadors and Advisory Committee Members.
4.0 Policy Statement
Baker College is committed to maintaining a vibrant and engaged alumni community. Alumni Ambassador and Advisory Committee Members support the BCAC through outreach efforts, planning, and participating in engagement activities and events.
5.0 Procedures
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be an alumnus/alumna of Baker College
- Demonstrated commitment to Baker College’s mission, vision, and core values, along with the mission of the BCAC
- Ability to represent Baker College positively
- Ability to commit time and resources to actively participate in committee activities
Selection Process Requirements:
Submission of the following documentation:
- A current resume or CV
- A brief statement of interest
- Participation in an introductory meeting to discuss responsibilities and expectations of being a committee member
- Commitment to attending scheduled meetings and activities
The selection process will evaluate the potential member’s ability to promote Baker College and contribute meaningfully to committee activities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Act as ambassadors by promoting and representing Baker College positively
- Provide advice on activities related to alumni engagement
- Engage actively in committee meetings, scheduled events, and alumni outreach activities
- Support the planning and promotion of alumni engagement activities
- Uphold institutional confidentiality and ethical standards
Term and Renewal:
- This is a voluntary commitment with no financial compensation
- Initial terms are for one year, with the opportunity for renewal based on active participation and continued eligibility
Accountability and Dismissal:
- Members who do not meet committee expectations may be subject to dismissal at the discretion of committee leadership.
Expectations of Committee Members:
- Regular attendance at committee meetings
- Active participation in assigned sub-committees or project work
- Timely and professional communication between meetings
- Contribution of ideas and suggestions for content, events, and activities that benefit the alumni community
6.0 Responsibilities
Director of Alumni Relations
Oversees the operations of the BCAC Alumni Ambassadors and Advisory Committee, including the selection process for new members and supporting the committee with the planning and execution of events.
Alumni Ambassador and Advisory Committee Members
Members are responsible for actively participating in BCAC activities, promoting the alumni community, and contributing to the planning and execution of events.
BCAC Leadership
The leadership team is responsible for coordinating meetings, facilitating communication among members, and providing support for event planning and execution.
