Logos and Marks

1.0 Purpose
Baker College's marks and logos follow strict brand guidelines and support the strategic mission and vision of the institution. The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for the usage of Baker College logos and marks. This policy ensures that such assets are used in compliance with institutional standards, trademarks, and are used correctly and consistently across all communication channels.
2.0 Definitions
Campus Logos - These logos lock with our primary logo and can be used in any materials where you need to reference a specific campus.
Campaign Wordmark - Baker College’s established wordmark is “Further Together”.
College Logos - These logos lock with our primary logo and can be used in any materials where you need to reference a specific college.
College Seal - The seal consists of a circle with “1911”, the College’s crest, “Vivere Crescere Et Florere”, and the College name spelled out completely.
Primary Logo - The logo consists of a circle with “B” and “C” and the College name spelled out completely.
Specialty Logo - These logos are periodically used when Baker College proudly chooses to associate with various causes and celebrations including but not limited to Pride, Pink Out events, and special heritage months.
Spirit Mark - This mark consists of a circle with “Baker College Bees”, “1911”, and a bee.
Trademark - All marks and logos have been officially trademarked. All trademarks are managed by Baker’s legal counsel.
3.0 Scope
This policy applies to all Baker College departments, affiliates, campus groups, and vendors who wish to use any official Baker College logos, marks, and related branding assets. The policy ensures that all logos and marks are used consistently and appropriately across all platforms. Unauthorized use, alteration, or distribution of these logos and marks is prohibited unless prior approval is granted by the Marketing and Communications Department.
4.0 Policy Statement

Primary Logo

The BC logo is the official mark representing Baker College and all units that fall under its governance. This should be used in most applications. The logo should not be altered in any way, including separate use of the “BC”. The Brand & Identity guidelines allow for the creation of a graphic element linking a campus or department name to the logo. Creation of such graphics must be completed by the Marketing Department using the same font as the logo mark.

The Baker College Seal is reserved for exclusive use of the president and on official Baker College documents (i.e. diplomas, certificates, transcripts) and designated institutional ceremonies (i.e. commencement and convocations). The Department of Marketing and Communications must authorize use of the seal.
5.0 Procedures
Baker College departments, affiliates, campus groups, and vendors may only use official college logos and marks in strict accordance with this policy and the graphics requirements outlined in the Baker College Style Guide. A request for a new special mark or logo should follow the process of submitting a marketing project request form.
6.0 Responsibilities
Marketing Department
The Marketing and Communications department is responsible for overseeing the proper usage of all college logos and marks, ensuring compliance with this policy and the Baker College Style Guide.
They must approve and create any altered or new logos, including specialty logos, for specific events, campaigns, or special purposes.
The department is also responsible for managing the official logo assets in the College’s digital asset management system.
They must provide guidance and support to departments or affiliates seeking assistance with logo use.
Baker College Departments and Affiliates
All departments, units, and affiliates are responsible for using the official college logos and marks in accordance with this policy and the brand guidelines.
They must request approval from Marketing and Communications for any new logo or mark usage outside the established guidelines or for any specialty or campus-specific logos.
Departments must ensure that any materials featuring Baker College logos are consistent with the approved graphic requirements.
Vendors
Adhere to all brand guidelines and usage requirements when producing merchandise, materials, or other items bearing Baker College logos or marks.
Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Department to ensure that any item using the College’s marks follows established standards.
