Policy # MARCOM 700-002 Web Content Policy

1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure content published on official Baker College and Baker College-affiliated websites aligns with the college’s mission and values, while upholding brand integrity.
2.0 Definitions
Minor Web Updates - updating an existing webpage to edit, add, or delete text or images.
Major Web Updates - adding a new page to an existing site, adding a new site or microsite, or modifying large portions of an existing page.
TDNext - ticketing management application used by Baker College.
Web Content - refers to any part of a website, including text, images, forms, and multimedia, as well as any markup code, scripts, and applications.
Web Content Creator - the person who is creating Web Content to be added to the website. May include Baker College employees or third-party vendors contracted by the College.
Web Content Publisher - the person responsible for uploading Web Content and/or adding the content to a webpage. May include Baker College employees or third-party vendors contracted by the College.
3.0 Scope
This policy is applicable to all Web Content Creators and Publishers who submit, edit, or publish content on a site owned or maintained by Baker College.
4.0 Policy Statement
Accessibility
Web Content is expected to meet the standards for accessibility as defined in the MARCOM 700-001 Web Accessibility Policy.
Copyright and Intellectual Property
Web Content Creators and Publishers are expected to adhere to all applicable state and federal regulations and guidelines associated with intellectual property (copyright and trademark) compliance. Copyrighted content (including but not limited to text, images, video, and audio) may not be published to a Baker College webpage without written permission from the copyright holder. Web Content Publishers found to be in violation of this policy will be asked to immediately remove the content in question. The content may also be removed by website administrators and the Content Publisher notified of the removal.
Outcomes and Performance Data
Baker College publishes outcome and performance data for academic programs as required by each program’s accrediting body. Content Creators are expected to verify the accuracy of all data internally before submitting it for publishing.
5.0 Procedures
Requesting Website Content Additions, Removals, or Updates
Web Content Creators are expected to submit a web ticket for baker.edu to request content additions, removals, or updates to existing content. Tickets will then be reviewed, prioritized, and assigned based on available resources.
6.0 Responsibilities
Web Content Creators
It is the responsibility of Web Content Creators to request content additions, removals, or updates by submitting a web ticket in TDNext.
If the request involves one or more Major Web Updates, the Content Creator may be asked to review staged updates and provide publishing approval before the updates are made public. (Minor Web Updates generally don’t require staging and approval.)
Web Content Publishers
It is the responsibility of Web Content Publishers to review new web tickets and assign to the appropriate team member based on the request priority and available resources.
