Exit Loan Counseling

This article provides instructions on how to complete exit student loan counseling.

Exit Loan Counseling is a federally required for any student loan borrower who withdraws from the college, graduates, or drops below half-time. The purpose of exit counseling is to ensure you understand your student loan obligations and are prepared for repayment.

Exit Counseling Instructions
  • Log in to studentaid.gov using your FSA ID
  • Under 'Loan Repayment' tab select 'Loan Exit Counseling'
  • Click 'Start'
  • Complete and submit the counseling session. 

Upon completion, Baker College will receive the results electronically and the requirements will be satisfied.

Who Should Complete this? How Long Will It Take? What Do I Need?
Federal student loan borrowers who are:
  • Graduating
  • Dropped below half-time enrollment
  • Leaving school
Exit counseling takes about 30 minutes to complete. You must complete it in one session; you cannot save and return to an incomplete session.
  • FSA User ID (information you use to sign your FAFSA)
  • Driver's License Number
  • SSN, DOB and Email Address
  • Names, addresses, telephone numbers of next of kin, two references who live in the United States and information regarding your future employer (if known)
