Here are a list of frequently asked questions for St. Francis Law students.

Am I required to register as a law student with the State Bar?

Students enrolled at St. Francis School of Law are required to register as a law student with the State Bar of California within 90 days after beginning their law studies.

 

How do I submit my application for law student registration to the State Bar?

The Application for Registration requires that students provide the State Bar of California Committee of Bar Examiners with a social security number, or a request for an exemption due to ineligibility.  The link to the application can be found at: https://www.calbar.ca.gov/Admissions/Requirements

 

What is the CEEB School Code for St. Francis?

The CEEB school code is 9250.

 

Can I submit an application to register with the State Bar without a SSN?

Do I need to submit proof of registration with the State Bar to St. Francis?

Once you apply and submit your application to the State Bar, you will receive a notice by email indicating “Your Registration has been Approved.”  Please forward that email to academic@stfrancislaw.com so that it can be filed in your records.

 

Who should I contact if I need help with the State Bar application for registration?

If you do not receive an approval letter or have any issues with completing the registration application process, please call the State Bar general services line for Admissions: (213) 765-1500 and (415) 538-2300, or send an email to admissions@calbar.ca.gov.

 

Why are students required to submit study hours?

Students are required to certify they have spent the required number of hours of academic engagement and preparation for each course they undertake.  The State Bar of California requires students to constructively participate in academic engagement which encompasses a variety of learning activities as identified in the State Bar regulations and school policies. 

 

How do I keep track of my study hours?

A template is available in each class to assist students with recording their time spent on various academic engagement and preparation activities throughout each course. 

 

How often am I expected to submit study hours?

Students are required to submit study hours at the end of each course.

 

Where do I submit my study hours?

Study hours are submitted using the Study Log Survey found in the last seminar of each course.

What should I do if I need to withdraw or take an Academic Leave due to personal, financial, work, or family  circumstances?

We understand that students have circumstances that are beyond their control and at times need to step away for a brief period of time.  It is best to email academic@stfrancislaw.com to initiate your request.  The Director of Academic Excellence will then contact you to discuss your request, provide you with your options, and assist you with completing the proper withdrawal and/or Academic Leave form.

 

How do I return after taking an academic leave?

To re-enroll after taking an Academic Leave, please email academic@stfrancislaw.com.  Students may be required to complete a Request for Re-enrollment after Leave of Absence form which will be submitted to the Registrar's Office for review of your academic file for the purpose of determining an appropriate return date based on the current course schedule.  As part of the return process, students may be required, if applicable, to complete a new Enrollment Agreement, provide additional information, resolve account holds, and/or submit any missing study logs prior to re-enrollment.

 

Is live attendance required in my courses?

Students attend live classes online and are required to attend and participate in at least 85 percent of the regularly scheduled live interactive classes and other forms of academic engagement in their courses. Consequences for inadequate attendance will be addressed as per the attendance policy.

 

What should I do if I am unable to attend one of my live classes?

Students unable to attend a class must communicate with their professor in advance and request an arrangement to make-up the missed class.  It is the Professor's discretion whether to approve or deny make-up requests.

Where do I go first, RPNow or the Canvas final exam?

You will start the proctoring process by downloading the software at the following site: https://stfrancislaw.remoteproctor.com  Then, follow the prompts to begin the final exam in Canvas.

 

How do I get the Access Code for RPNow?

The RPNow software will enter the access code for you when you click the green Enter Access Code button at the top of the screen.
