What is the Grow with Google program?

Grow with Google is a Google initiative that provides tools and training to help people and communities thrive in the digital world. The program partners with local organizations to make digital skills training accessible to a wide audience.

Through this collaboration with Google, Baker College is offering students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to build new skills and advance their careers with free certificate programs and professional resources.

Participation in the Grow with Google program is completely voluntary and licenses are issued through Baker College at no cost to the individuals participating.

What programs can I enroll in through Grow with Google?

Grow with Google content is provided via the online learning platform Coursera. The following offerings are available to eligible individuals who enroll in the Grow with Google program via Baker College:

Am I able to enroll Coursera content beyond that in the Baker College portal?

Any courses that an individual elects to enroll in outside of the standard Baker College catalog will require a paid subscription to the Coursera platform. All content that is offered within the Baker College catalog is available at no cost to any student, faculty, or staff member who successfully joins the Grow with Google program via Baker College.

How can I apply to take part in the program via Baker College?

Any active student, faculty, or staff member can apply to join the Grow with Google program via Baker College. To apply to the program simply complete the Grow with Google Access Request form provided.

Once your request is processed and an individual is confirmed to be eligible they will be issued an invitation to join the program via email. After successfully accepting the invitation an individual will gain access to the Baker College portal and can choose to enroll in one or more offerings listed in the catalog.

Note: participation in the Grow with Google program through Baker College requires an individual to have access to a baker.edu account. If an individual loses access to their baker.edu account for any reason or is no longer an active student, faculty, or staff member their participation in the Grow with Google program via Baker College will be revoked. Progress in any course(s) will not be lost, however the individual will be required to obtain a paid membership to the Coursera platform to continue their progress.

License availability is limited and is not guaranteed. Licenses will be granted on a first come, first serve basis.

What happens after I receive my invitation email from Coursera?

Once you receive your invitation to participate in the Grow with Google program via Baker College you simply need to click the Join Now button provided in the email.

At that time you will be taken to the Baker College portal on Coursera where you will be asked if you are new to Coursera or an existing user. If you select that you are a new user then you will be asked to assign a password to your account.

Note: Access to the Baker College portal on Coursera will be conducted via SSO in the future, however it is important that you remember the password you assign to your Coursera account in the event that you no longer have access to the Grow with Google program via Baker College or your baker.edu account at some point in the future.

How do I log in to the coursera.org website to properly access the Baker College catalog?

When you arrive at the coursera.org website, simply click the "Log In" link in the upper right corner of the screen.

At that point you will receive a sign in dialog box.  Please select the link that reads, "Sign up with your organization" near the bottom of the window (see image below).

Lastly, when asked to "Enter Your Organization URL" type baker.edu into the provided field and click Continue.  If your baker.edu user account has been assigned a license you will be taken to the Baker College Google Certificate Catalog and can begin to interact with the system.

How do I enroll in a Grow with Google certificate program?

Once you have successfully accessed the Baker College portal on Coursera you will see a section titled, "Collections selected by Baker College". Clicking on any of the options in that area will provide program details and allow you to click a button to Enroll. Enrollment is automatic. Courses are self-paced.  If you no longer wish to participate in a specific program you are able to withdraw with no penalties at a future date.

How long do I have to complete a certificate program?

There is no maximum period of time in which you must complete a program, however membership in the Grow with Google program via Baker College does require a license to be assigned to an individual. That license is provided at no cost for a period of (6) months at which time the license will expire.  Progress in a program will not be lost even if your license expires.

What happens if I don’t complete a course or program within the (6) month license period?

An individual is able to reapply for participation in the Grow with Google program again after the 6 month period expires. Program membership will be awarded based on license availability and confirmation of status as an active student, faculty, or staff member with a valid baker.edu email address. If an individual no longer meets those criteria they can still continue their progress by obtaining a paid subscription on the Coursera platform.

Individuals who are removed from the Grow with Google program will not be able to access the Baker College portal on the Coursera platform and will receive a message similar to the following:

At that time, users will need to login with the password they set up during the creation of their Coursera account by clicking the "Browse Coursera" button. Users will then have the option of either reapplying to the Grow with Google program via Baker College, pending eligibility, or obtaining a paid subscription on the Coursera platform to continue their learning progress.

What happens if I no longer have access to a baker.edu email account?

If an individual no longer has access to a baker.edu account and as a result has their Grow with Google license removed they can still access their Coursera account via the password that they set up during their Coursera account creation.  

Note: No longer having access to a baker.edu account will not allow an individual to sign in via SSO so having the password mentioned above is required.

If an individual does not remember the password they set during their initial Coursera account creation they will need to contact Coursera support directly via the Coursera Learner Help Center.

Please be aware that Baker College is unable to assist with the support of Coursera accounts.

What steps can I take to ensure I won't lose access to my Coursera account?

While an individual has an active baker.edu account it is advised that they supply a Personal Account by accessing their account profile settings on Coursera. Having a Personal Account in place will assist the Coursera support team in verifying your identity and regaining access to your account should the need exist.

All support for the Coursera platform, including account issues, payments & subscriptions, grades & assignments, certificate access, or other Coursera related needs can be achieved via the Coursera Learner Help Center.
