Frequently asked questions

Who can send faxes?

Anyone with an approved Baker College Xmedius Fax account can send faxes. A supervisor must submit a request to IT before access can be granted.

Can I use a fax cover sheet?

Yes. Available cover sheets are managed by department delegates. You can also add a cover sheet as the first page of the PDF document you attach.

What is the attachment size limit?

The currently documented Baker College file-size limit is 100 MB. Large documents may take longer to transmit or may fail at the receiving fax service. Reduce the file size when possible.

How do I request an Xmedius Fax account?

After determining that access is required, the user's supervisor must submit an IT request for an Xmedius Fax account.

Who can view my faxes?

Faxes received through a shared department fax number can be viewed by delegates assigned to that number.

Use the Xmedius Fax web portal for information subject to FERPA or HIPAA requirements. Do not send that information through Baker email. Follow all applicable Baker College privacy, security, and records-handling policies.

Can students send or receive faxes?

No. Students cannot currently send or receive faxes through this service.

Can I send an international fax?

Yes. Enter the destination in international E.164 format:

+[country code][complete national number]

For example, a United States or Canadian fax number begins with +1.
